I’m at school this week, “one week, one class”, taking ‘Sport for the Spectator’ at the U. Back Friday night, I’m sure my absence will go largely unnoticed.
Here’s a stock UM photo of the fountain behind the Merrick Building.
Caught Foo Fighters last night at the Fabulous Forum. Upsides included a great spot for the B stage (they had two stages), downsides were “Can you move so my girlfriend can see?” from about a dozen people (My response: “If I move for you, I’d have to move for everyone”). Other upsides included “Darling Nikki” and Lemmy guesting on “Shake Your Blood”. Show was just over two hours, pushed past midnight (does the Forum even have a curfew anymore).
Anyways, here’s my “Everlong” from last night:
Even though I’m the only person I know who likes Linkin Park (it’s live tease-music people!), show was surprisingly good. Probably the loudest crowd I’ve ever heard… also very few poseurs, not many trucker hats, not much texting, very little talking during lulls in action. Bummer is that I didn’t hear the 3 words I was hoping for, “Please welcome, Jay-Z” but that never happens for me at any show I attend. (Ice Cube & Snoop with P-Funk at Lollapalooza ’94 would’ve been historic, didn’t happen).
How’s this for convenience though:
8:40pm Rolled into LA Live parking lot (my new favorite parking lot at Staples)
8:48pm Into SC
9:20pm LP starts
10:58pm LP ends
12:02pm Arrive home; even after getting gas in Silverlake
